About Our Logo

Designed by one of our curators, Emerald, the red-haired falling girl calls to ideas of girls falling/flying through space and time – Alice falling down the rabbit hole, Wendy falling into Neverland, Chihiro falling in the water, Ponyo, Urokohime, Sheta, the crane wife… However, our girl falls with intent – her hand guides her path to the future; her face, although in silhouette, is looking where she is going in hope rather than looking behind her in terror.

Her darkened silhouette obscures her features – she is any and all femme-presenting body of every age, race, and gender.

The flowers borrow heavily from the work of shojo designer and icon, Takahashi Macoto, whose work was instrumental in shaping the shojo look in the 1950s and the girlish lolita rebirth of the 1990s to the current day.
